Video vs. Film (english)

Welcome to my blog. I hate it.

I hate getting bogged down in long forewords. So just get in and go.

It should be about the question: Video or film?

Whether it’s YouTube, Instagram, TikTok or other social media: we’re being bombarded with short videos, little films, clips etc. everywhere. Some really good things are there. But if you look closely, you’re lucky that videos aren’t refrigerators. Otherwise we would have huge mountains of garbage from unusable friges.

Are we so alienated from aesthetics that we can tolerate three cuts in two seconds on bad shots? And add our “like” to that? And, to be honest, it annoys me when the creators still call themselves “filmmakers”.

In English, the video clip is viewed as an excerpt from a complete work. Due to the digital revolution of the past few years, this excerpt has unfortunately become independent: The video clip is now an excerpt from a complete work that does not exist.

The real film, on the other hand, tells a story. Whether in 30 seconds (That works!) or 3 hours.
The real film can stand images and leaves room for interpretation.
The real film challenges and requires reflection.
The real film takes me into its world, takes me on a journey.
The real film sticks, follows you.
The real film is real.

That’s why I’m a filmmaker and not a video producer or content creator.
